Performing a Soft Reset
A soft reset tells your unit to stop what it is doing and start over again
while retaining all records and entries stored in your unit.
Using the plastic stylus tip, gently press the reset button inside the hole on
the back panel of your unit.
|
Performing a Warm Reset
A warm reset restarts your unit, disabling any third-party applications. This
is used when you suspect an application that you recently installed is causing
the problem.
To perform a warm reset, press and hold the Up button. Use the stylus tip to
press the reset button. When the Palm™ logo screen appears, release the Up
button. Open the Memory application and delete the offending application, and
then perform a soft reset.

Performing a Hard Reset
Caution: With a hard reset, all records and entries stored in your unit
are erased. Never perform a hard reset unless a soft reset does not solve your
problem. You can restore any data previously stored on a memory card during a
Backup operation, or stored to your desktop computer via a previous HotSync
operation.
Tip: You can cancel the hard reset and perform a soft reset by pressing
any other button.

My unit unexpectedly turns off. I can't turn it on again, even though my
batteries are new.
|
You may have a defective battery jumper bar. Please contact technical
support.
|
|
|
|
I replaced the batteries, but I am still getting a low battery warning.
|
The battery warning message may appear immediately after replacing the
batteries. Also, if you check the battery gauge in the Applications Launcher
immediately after replacing the batteries, the gauge may start at "empty" and
slowly rise to "full." This is normal. It takes a few minutes for the battery
gauge to accurately show the condition of the batteries.
|
|
|
|
After I replaced the batteries, the screen is dim and the opening screen
flashes repeatedly.
|
If you take too long to change the batteries, the OS may become corrupted and
show the symptom of the flashing screen. To verify this, Insert fresh
batteries, then perform a hard reset. If the unit boots,
wait 5 minutes for the capacitor to charge. Verify the unit is still working
and then turn the power off. Remove the batteries, wait 15 seconds, reinstall
the batteries, and then turn the unit on again.

When I tap the buttons or screen icons, it activates the wrong feature.
|
You will need to calibrate the screen. Begin by tapping the Welcome icon.

|
When I tap the Menu icon, nothing happens.
|
Not all applications or screens have menus. Try changing to a different
application.
|
|
|
|
I can't get my handheld computer to recognize my handwriting.
|
For your handheld computer to recognize hand-writing input with the stylus, you
need to use Graffiti ® writing.
Make the Graffiti character strokes in the Graffiti writing area, not on the
display part of the screen.
Write Graffiti strokes for letters in the left-hand side, and the strokes for
numbers in the right-hand side of the Graffiti writing area.
Make sure that Graffiti is not shifted into extended or punctuation modes.
See the HandEra 330 User Guide for
more details.
